What's new on the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta?

The Volkswagen Jetta was extensively refreshed for 2022 in order to become even more attractive and competitive against the competition.

Increased performance

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta benefits from a new standard engine that allows for better performances and fuel economy. The 1.5L turbocharged engine develops 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque which is more than most other vehicles in its category. Despite this power, the fuel efficiency has also been improved, with average figures dropping to 8.1 L/100km in the city and only 5.5 L/100km on the highway, for a combined average of 6.9 L/100km. If you want even more power, the Jetta GLI returns with a 2.0L turbocharged engine that can deliver up to 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. To put this power down to the wheels, you have a choice of either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic in the Jetta and the same manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission in the GLI. The Jetta sport and the GLI also benefit from a new XDS cross differential system, which is an electronic system that acts as a mechanical limited-slip differential by applying the brakes to the appropriate wheel when slippage is detected under acceleration.

More technology

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is equipped with the latest version of the MIB infotainment system, which features a capacitive-touch sensor that allows it to function in a similar way to a smartphone, making it faster and more natural to use than the previous version. The S, Sport and SE feature a 6.5-inch display while the SEL and GLI have a 8 inch screen. New for 2022, Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit is standard on every Jetta. This digital instrument cluster is offered in two screen sizes depending on the model you choose, 8 inch or 10.25 inch. This screen can be configured to show you all of the information you want to know about the car, your phone or the driver assistance features. In the models equipped with the larger screen, the map for the navigation system can be expanded to cover most of the screen space, which makes it easier for you to view the information about your trajectory.
