The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is equipped with a number of features that are engineered to keep you and your passengers safe in any situation.
The Front Assist
The standard Front Assist in the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas helps you avoid accidents by monitoring the road in front to detect any obstacles, vehicles or pedestrians that are in the way. This system warns you as soon as a collision risk is detected so that you have enough time to avoid the obstacle safely. If you don’t react in time, Front Assist will automatically apply the brakes in order to avoid the collision or at least reduce its force to better protect you and your passengers.
The Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas comes standard with the Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, which uses warning lights integrated into the side mirrors to warn you of the presence of a vehicle in your blind spot while driving on a multi-lane road. This prevents you from attempting to change lane when doing so could hit another vehicle. This system is also useful when backing out of a busy parking lot since it can identify vehicles driving perpendicularly behind the Atlas, something that can be hard to see when reversing.
The Lane Assist
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is available with the Lane Assist, which monitors the road markings on either side of the vehicle to determine when you are drifting out of your lane involuntarily. If this happens, a warning is issued by the vehicle and the system can then apply a small amount of force on the steering wheel to correct the trajectory and keep you safely in your lane, which could save you and your passengers from a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle. The system is not activated when the appropriate turn signal is used since the vehicle knows this is a voluntary action.
