The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta is still a great option if you are looking for a fun to drive, efficient, and comfortable compact sedan. Here are some of the ways in which it stands out from its competition.
A powerful engine and German-tuned dynamics
The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta is the only German model in its segment, and this puts it at an advantage in terms of driving dynamics and driver enjoyment. Indeed, the Jetta benefits from responsive suspension components that can absorb bumps without sacrificing handling as well as a communicative steering system that helps you place the car exactly where you want it during fast curves and lane changes. Under the hood, the new Jetta also impresses with its standard engine, a modern turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder unit also used in the Taos. While this is the only engine available in the Jetta, its 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque output makes it compare favourably with any of the standard engines from the competition, and even some optional units in terms of torque. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual, this gives the Jetta performances that are more than adequate as well as an impressive combined fuel consumption rating of 6.9 L/100 km, one of the lowest for a non-hybrid compact sedan.
The even more dynamic GLI
If this is still not enough for you, the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta can also be ordered in GLI trim, a more dynamic and powerful version that promises to be even more exciting to drive. In place of the 1.5L engine, the Jetta GLI uses a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder that generates 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission remains a six-speed manual, but the optional automatic is replaced by a 7-speed DSG unit that provides quicker shifts and a more sports car-like feel. A limited-slip front differential also makes sure that the Jetta GLI is able to put its power down effectively under any circumstances.
Practicality and technology
The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta combines performance, driver enjoyment, and practicality due to its size and its feature content. Starting with dimensions, the 2024 Jetta benefits from its small size by being easy to park and manoeuvre around town, while at the same time being spacious enough to ensure the comfort of everyone on board. In addition, the 399-litre trunk can carry all of your luggage for a weekend getaway with ease. Inside, the Jetta also stands out with all of its technology. In addition to infotainment matters such as a standard 8-inch digital instrument cluster, an available 8-inch touchscreen as well as standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Jetta comes with Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite of driver assistance technologies.
