The standard transmission remains a six-speed manual, but the optional automatic is replaced by a 7-speed DSG unit that provides quicker shifts and a more sports car-like feel. A limited-slip front differential also makes sure that the Jetta GLI is able to put its power down effectively under any circumstances.
