More engine options for the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas
Under the hood, both SUVs offer powertrains suitable for any situation. The 2022 Honda Pilot is offered with just one option, a 3.5-liter V6. The Volkswagen Atlas, meanwhile, offers two engine options, a 3.6-liter V6 and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
With this entry-level engine available on Trendline and Comfortline variants, the Volkswagen Atlas consumes only 10.5 L/100 km in combined highway/city driving. Both SUVs are available with all-wheel drive.
As mentioned above, both SUVs offer room for the whole family. The Volkswagen Atlas offers a total of 583 liters of cargo space behind the third row. The 2022 Honda Pilot has 524 liters which is a little less space when all seats are occupied.
In terms of entertainment, both the Honda Pilot and the Volkswagen Atlas come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That said, in its higher trim levels, the Volkswagen Atlas is available with a Fender-branded audio system that includes 12 speakers, and it also offers the all-digital Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster not seen on the Pilot.
The Honda Pilot is offered with a 7-inch infotainment system screen on every model in its lineup. The Volkswagen Atlas can be equipped with an 8-inch screen in its higher variants.
The Volkswagen Atlas and the Honda Pilot are both good SUVs designed to carry the family and everything that needs to follow. On the other hand, the Atlas offers more options in terms of powertrain, entertainment and space behind the third row. Not to mention that the Atlas' look is more rugged and refined than the Pilot's.
