Volkswagen ID.Aero electric vehicle concept could preview new EV sedan

The Volkswagen ID.4 has been one of the most popular electric vehicles in Canada since it arrived on the market and we expect VW to continue bringing more EVs in the near future. The ID.Buzz has garnered a ton of admiration since it launched, and the Volkswagen ID.Aero concept unveiled back in June is another VW EV prototype that was very well received. We expect Volkswagen to eventually offer an electric sedan in North America which could be based on the ID.Aero and if so, here's what we can expect.

This new electric sedan would likely appear on the market sometime towards the end of next year as a 2024 model and it could serve as a fully electric replacement of the popular Volkswagen Passat.

Judging from the ID. Aero concept, this is a vehicle with a lot of interior space which would make sense as the Passat was also a very spacious vehicle. The VW ID.4 is one of the most practical electric vehicles you can buy, and we expect an eventual electric sedan from VW to be just as welcoming.

Impressive aerodynamics and a lot of range

The ID.Aero's aerodynamic profile is one of its most impressive features. Featuring a drag coefficient of only 0.23, the ID.Aero promises to reduce wind noise and improve electric efficiency by cutting through wind resistance.

Volkswagen has hinted that its upcoming electric vehicles will have more range, and the ID.Aero concept is no exception. In terms of range and electric driving capability, the ID.Aero could be one of the most generous luxury electric sedans. Moreover, the battery would be capable of quick charging and would have a capacity of 77.0 kWh.

An electric Volkswagen sedan based on the ID.Aero concept would likely be a great blend of comfort and performance, just as the Passat was in the past. As with all VW electric vehicles, the ID.Aero is built on the Volkswagen MEB platform which offers the perfect balance of luxury and athleticism. This AWD system can be paired with all-wheel drive capability to ensure the highest level of traction and stability in difficult Canadian winters.

We should get more info on an eventual new VW electric sedan based on the ID.Aero concept later this year.
