Volkswagen Canada recently unveiled a sweeping series of updates to its 2024 Atlas Cross Sport, enhancing its allure across multiple dimensions, from engine performance to interior luxury. Here are the essential changes that potential buyers should note.

Starting Price and Trims

Firstly, let’s talk numbers. The 2024 Atlas Cross Sport comes with a starting MSRP of $48,895. It offers three trim levels, each designed to provide a unique combination of features and capabilities.

Engine Upgrades

The Atlas Cross Sport discards its previous four-cylinder and VR6 options and introduces a new standard 2.0-litre turbo powertrain. This engine produces 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, essentially matching the outgoing VR6 but offering enhanced torque across a broader rev range. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and also features Volkswagen's all-wheel-drive system, 4MOTION, as a standard across all trims. The shift is expected to improve fuel economy while maintaining robust performance.

Interior Refinements

When it comes to the interior, Volkswagen hasn't cut any corners. The dashboard and center console now feature leatherette-trimmed soft-touch materials. The door trims have been refined to flow seamlessly into the dashboard, adding to the vehicle’s luxurious feel. As for seating, top-end models come with quilted leather seats featuring a diamond stitch pattern.

Notably, the Atlas Cross Sport also integrates a restructured center console that includes a novel storage cubby underneath. Ambient lighting now offers 30 color choices, and backlit dashboard décor featuring the model name provides a futuristic touch to the interior.

Comfort Features

Standard comfort features now include a heated steering wheel equipped with shift paddles, ventilated front seats, and a height-adjustable passenger seat. There's also three-zone automatic climate control to keep everyone comfortable.

Driver Assistance

The IQ.Drive suite becomes a standard feature across all trims. This package includes an array of driver assistance technologies such as Travel Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control, among others.

Atlas Cross Sport Lineup

For those keen on specifics, the lineup starts with the Comfortline trim, which includes standard 18-inch machined aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display, among other features, all at an MSRP of $48,895.

The Highline variant starts at $55,895 and builds upon the Comfortline features by adding leather seat trim, a panoramic sunroof, and a Harman Kardon audio system.

The Execline R-Line trim, priced at $58,895, elevates the feature set further by including 21-inch machined-finish alloy wheels, a Head-Up Display (HUD), and Park Assist, among other upgrades.
